Bellingen is close to seven National Parks. A 30 minute drive west takes you to the Skywalk at Dorrigo National Park. Or an hour's drive takes you to the spectacular views of Point Look Out in the New England National Park and intriguing stacks of granite boulders in Cathedral Rocks National Park.

Bellingen's Market draws people from all over the Mid North Coast. Featuring live music and outdoor cafés, it is a popular meeting and social event. The market is comprised of over 200 stalls that sell produce, preserves, plants, hand-made furniture, clothing, books, bric-a-brac and so on. The market is held on the third Saturday of every month at Bellingen Park, South Bellingen. Bellingen also has a Natural Lifestyle & Produce Market held every second week at the Bellingen Show Grounds, North Bellingen.

Nearby Dorrigo is home to the Dorrigo Steam Railway Museum - the largest collection of steam engines in the southern hemisphere. The museum is currently collecting and renovating old steam engines and is not open to the public, but informal visits to the site can be made.
